What brand drums ? I know the 60's and 70's Ludwig Champagne were different. 70's being more pinkish. The 60' were actual silver and copper flakes. Richer looking. A more copper darker type wrap. I don't think Sam has that same type . I have heard it still exist but hard to find and expensive. They make a Bermuda Sand that is nice but not the same. Maybe some others can chime in on this. Here are my 1968 Champagne set.
I've never used JS's wraps so I can't comment however I have bought WMP wraps from Precision Drum Co and they are spot on. I personally wouldn't go anywhere else.
This is the project... Craigslist purchase... familiar story; drum teacher sold to student.. Student quit... Parents sold drums, cymbals, hardware.. $300. I think they are worth putting back together. I swear I can not get a picture to post correctly from my iPhone no matter which way I rotate it.[Attachment: 102218]
Precision and Jammin Sam will send you samples so you can compare.
What size floor tom is that ?
Modern champ sparkle looks nothing like the vintage one. Precision drum makes custom wraps using a photographic process. You might get a decent match that way going custom, but off the shelf modern champ is much different than what's on your drums. The tom will stick out like a sore thumb. Look into custom wrap. Andrea from Precision will send you swatches to look at of all the champ sparkle shades so you can match one up to your other drums as close as you can get.
