does anybody play a 24"cymbal

Loading...

I got a 22" Zildjan ride off of EBAY for fifty bucks. It had a couple small cracks in the keyhole and a little piece actually missing. I haven't noticed since it arrived............. It wobbles nicely, and crashing it sounds pretty loud and explosive to me, and that is a full swing at it too. I did put one of those grommets on it when I got it.

Cymbals as a group are very unrelaxing things. There can be all kinds of emotions attached to the sound of a cymbal(s) but relaxing seldom comes to mind. It does with a 24"----at least the current one I am playing( I only have 2). It's a Diril---2604 gm.Dark, sweet----plays like blackstrap mollasses spreads. I'm going to get Ibrahim to make me a 26"-----not that I am disappointed in the 24 but I can't help myself.

I think the drummer from this band here http://bandzone.cz/professorleopard uses only hats and 24" Paiste 2oo2 "Big Ride." He makes it sound like he has a lot more cymbals.

BTW, these guys are totally great. For some reason, I don't like their studio recordings much but have loved every show I was at.

If you choose the right cymbal for the job, mount the cymbal properly and play it with the proper technique, you should NEVER break a cymbal.

+1 to the max.

Hmmm, did you break some of them? If you had to "beat the hell out of" the 24" Dream Bliss....maybe you were using the wrong cymbal for the application. Flat rides are not meant to be played loudly and bashed on.I play thin Dream Bliss crashes in my rock band (thin enough to easily flex in your hands). I hit them pretty hard and have had absolutley no problems for over 3 years now. I have said this 1000 times and I'll say it again: If you choose the right cymbal for the job, mount the cymbal properly and play it with the proper technique, you should NEVER break a cymbal.

I play my cymbals properly. I don't think dream cymbals hold up as well as K's. I enjoy dark cymbals. Iwould just recommend saving a little more and getting better quality cymbals.

I picked up a 24" Z ride in the mid 80's for a great price. It's like a Roman shield. LoLoLoLo

I've been playing it up to 2008-9 when I found a Zild. 22" earth ride in a pawn shop. Clapping Happy2

I highly recommend buying a Japanese 22in ride. I have a couple of them and they are awesome. Sorry - not selling....but if you want, I will make a vid of them so you can see and hear.

One is a Kingston and the other is a more washy Caravan. Both are dirty and dry.....I just love'em! A Pearl Special would do as well.

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!

I finally got to gig with the 24" Zildjian and it is sweet.I didnt get a chance to cut loose, but it shimmers for 45 seconds after a good whack. But some idiot ripped out the 3 rivets and the holes are all jagged now and the rivets fall out if hit right. I got the gunk off of the back of the cymbal and it is a 215 dollar keeper. One just sold for 400 on eBa so that in itself is a good thang'
