Verminator dealt with all of that way quicker with the simple phrase, "Anyway, back to the story." I thought, anyway...Mitch

All you do is **** and moan. You seem like a very contemptuous type of person from where I'm sitting. :D I'm not hear to entertain you. Learn this. I say what I want to say here. That's the idea. I make a valid point that I'd like to share. He sold that set for next to nothing if I can remember and now everyone is talking about Karma backlash. Wake up! People buy and sell stuff everyday. The guy has bills to pay like all of us. I think he was clever. He made his money back on the cymbals alone. More power to him.

There's a guy like that in every town. I've delt with a few here that act like they are doing the world a great service. Snatching anything up they can cheap before a real player gets their hands on it and then try to sell to the same player while making a huge profit. Unfortunately these guys get all the good stuff and are usually the only source to find nice vintage gear without going on ebay.

You can be sure that the guy buying up all those drums is a more than likely a real player too.

And the used car salesman no doubt drives a car too.. A man's word should be worth something?, I reckon.. In the same situation no way I could have shown Verminator's restraint...

I deleted an earlier more wordy comment to say simply this - the phrase "Anyway, back to the story" implied to me that verminator fully understands what happened with his sale awhile back, and has moved on. I felt the point was valid and wanted to share it. That is all.

The main reason I did not say anything to the lady is that she seemed kind of frazzled with phone calls and a "guy" who is already on his way over. But the poster who mentioned that the guy who bought my old set can do anything he wants with them is right. However, I got duped plain and simple. I only paid like $800 for the drums from the old guy. When I went to sell them, I wanted to keep them together so I made that abundantly clear. I listed them at a price to sell $850. I used my best judgement on the guy but was wrong. I knew I could of parted them out but chose not to. The experience opened my eyes for sure.

We have our regrets and our victories , today I say the seller beware is over ,thanks to the info that abounds every where mainly here

April 2nd 1969 scarfed pink champagne holly wood and 65/66 downbeat snare, and , supra same year very minty kit old pies
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

It occurs to me that the bottom line in that transaction was - you were lied to. That never feels good. There are all kinds of folks who would say they'll leave the kit intact and mean it. You had no way of knowing he wasn't one of them.

It's a shame and a drag and if you want proof, just take a look back over this thread as an informal poll of how many have your back. :)

[edit] I just looked back over the thread and I see that it occurred to The Ploughman first :)
