Difference between EAK's and preserial

Loading...

Hey Folks,

Just wondering what differentiates a EAK from a preserial K. I'm looking at a 20" K jazz ride that the seller has listed as "preserial". It there a way to tell? I searched the forum and maybe this has been answered so if it has can you send me the link?..

many thanks!

EAK's have very fine "pinpoint" lathing and the big "K" logo inked on the underside.

Preserial K's have wide lathing and "Zildjian" inked on the underside.

No evidence of any hand-hammering on pre-serials.

Many thanks Matt!

I have a chance to buy a 20" pre-serial jazz ride. It's in excellent condition and the asking price is $250.00-is that a fair deal? I am told they no longer make the "Jazz Ride".

thanks

$250 seems high unless it's in NOS condition. I probably wouldn't throw more than $175 at one.

I agree with matt. those jazz rides wont reach 200 on ebay. Now an eak jazz ride, well you can spend 350 on those lovely pies!
