I was talking to a fellow drummer yesterday,who mentioned that Mitch played brushes at gigs.Georgie Fame I can see,but not Hendrix.

Mitch was a jazz drummer before joining with Hendrix. It's what made his drumming so ground breaking at the time. Mitch was not an 'accompanist' in the traditional sense, he played the drums like a melodic instrument and his drumming was integral to the 'Hendrix' sound.
