Determining K Hi Hat set Value

Loading...

Hello, and thank you for the site. I am looking for help in learning the value of my hi hat set. I will be selling them as soon as I feel I have an understanding of fair market value. I won't need top dollar, just fair will do.

I am not a drummer, although I do keep a drum set in my small studio for convenience (and my own noodling around).

Cymbals: 15" K Zildjian Istanbul hi hat set. Sorry, I do not know the weight(s) yet, but would guess them to be medium or medium-light. The condition is excellent.

I have owned these for over twenty years, in storage the last ten years till last month when I finally got a studio space again. They appear to have a total of five different makers stamps. My thought was the stamps could help determine the age? I don't know. Im adding pics and the URL to pics of the stamp and set Thank you for any help on this. The site is notauto linking to the pics, so please cut and paste the URL....sheesh!

I sold a set, also 15" - believe they were late '50s, early '60s, very good condition, signature still visible inside the bell. It was a couple years ago, and I believe they sold for $450 on ebay.

I had a set of 15" K- Istanbul hats and they had a deep engraved "G" stamped on each cymbal. I heard they came out of the Gretsch drum factory. I would look for that small letter "G" They were and still are the best all around sounding hi-hats i have ever played.

Those are "old stamp" Istanbul cymbals, Dan. There are a number of "types" of old stamp....I am not sure which ones yours are but I can say with some certainty that they not type IV old stamps (the last, or youngest, of the old stamps) ~ meaning they ARE from the 40's....
