I have been visiting Gettysburg for decades, but today was the first time I visited Dale's Drum Shop in nearby Harrisburg. What an amazing drum shop this is! I can't believe it took me so long to get there.
Just to keep this vintage, they have a beautiful Ludwig Blue/Olive badge kit in red sparkle; 12/13/16/22 with tom holder, excellent shape, asking $900! Somebody should jump on that deal.
Their selection of new drums is mind boggling; mostly DW, Tama and Ludwig. Sets in all price ranges and a few used kits. They don't really sell a lot of vintage gear, and when they do, they price it to move quickly.
The cymbal selection is equally astounding. I bought a one-of-a-kind 20" Sabian octagonal prototype cymbal with a multitude of holes drilled. It's dark, trashy, and can be used either as an effective China crash, or a ride. It has a strong, clear bell as well. A great cymbal. I have to mention that the staff is low key, friendly and very willing to help on all levels. When I walked it, I said, "Before I start browsing....," and the sales guy, Reggie, immediately said, "The bathroom is up the stairs to the left." Must have been drummer's telepathy. I was impressed already.
I spent almost two hours trying out drums and cymbals, and found a beautiful Tama 12/13/16/22 birch/walnut kit in Jade Silk, which is a new name for green oyster. It's a closeout finish, and I'm seriously considering it. I took a cell phone picture, but can't post it here right now.
If you have never been to Dale's and can get there, by all means, just go. It's a drummer's paradise. Even Dale's wife is knowledgeable.
Best drum shop I have ever been to. I don't know why we don't have any drum shops like this back home.
