Cymbal sleeve for thick post

You could try one layer of good cloth tape around the rod, replace as needed. Not the best but I've done it and it provides the needed isolation. Looks like the cymbal is mounted pretty flat, and if you're not whacking it like a madman the tape should last a good while...Mitch

I've done this with several wraps of electrical tape once. Worked well.

Boy, there's a lot of innovative solutions being offered here that I wouldn't have thought of. I've done Glenn's Bic pen trick and it does work, but I was going to suggest taping off the threads and then dipping the post in Plasti-Dip. A few coats might do the trick.
