Craigslist score.

I found this beauty yesterday on Craigslist for a ridiculously good price of $300. It's a 12/16/20 Dayton era Rogers Holiday kit in Champagne sparkle. (I believe) It also came with a 70s Acrolite snare!

It needs some work as the hoops and bass drum wrap are pretty worn but other than that, the shells are in perfect shape and everything is original.

Just thought I'd share!

Very nice! Could be Champagne or very "ginger-aled" Silver sparkle (glass glitter). Hard to tell from that one pic. You'd have to take off a lug to verify. And you might want to invest in a set of Rogers hex legs for that floor tom.

Post some more pics!

Score! I think those holes in the floor tom will accommodate some kind of cymbal holder. I hope one of our Rogers Gurus chimes in. Great score man, you can't beat vintage Rogers drums for $300 bucks. Only goes to prove there will always be some great deals floating around out there if you're in the right place at the right time and you happen to have a few spare bucks in your pocket.

Fix em up and enjoy them! Any $ you sink into restoring them to best quality will come back to you if you ever sell them.

John

Too many great drums to list here!

Yes, the holes in the Floor Tom will accept another Floor Tom Leg Bracket that a cymbal rod/tube might go into.

There also may be a Rogers cymbal bracket that opens bigger than the Floor Tom leg bracket for a cymbal stand tube.

SCORE DUDE!!

$300 in a tough to find finish, with a Acro snare.... You did great !

Fully agree with Purdie and the rest of the gang, the FT holes look like they will accomidate a cymbal holder. Good luck with the kit

Thanks everyone! I'm beyond excited on these. To top it off, it was my birthday yesterday so these are even more special.

I'll definitely invest in restoring them once the budget permits. Until then, I'll leave them as is. They sound incredible.

Here are some more pics in which you can see the wear and tear on it. Any advice on restoring/repainting the hoops? Someone must have painted them white unfortunately.

Thanks

Nice catch for $300. You don't see that too often!!

If those drums all came together from the factory (excluding the Acrolite of course), then you have a Top Hat outfit, as seen in the attached catalog cut from the 64R catalog. That kit does not show up in the subsequent 1967-1968 catalog. It also was not shown in catalogs with beavertail lugs. From the serial numbers I can read in your pictures, it looks to be a Dayton era kit and they appear to be flat grey interiors. That would tend to date them from late '66/early '67.

You have the more difficult to find, and correctly laid out, 8x12 for the right-hand side of the kit looking from the drummer's position. If you can found the early double tom mount and the left-hand tom, you'd have the kit complete. The floor tom did in fact have another mount identical to the floor tom leg mounts, and that was originally supplied with a straight hex rod, an extension tilter and a regular short tilter, as you will see in the catalog cut.

Goo luck with the restoration and enjoy them.
