Cracked cymbals

Looking for cracked (but play able) cymbals for my son to beat on. if you have any orphans let me know.

That's a no-brainer....snag these up. Repair and see how good they come out. Could come out sounding very good.

66/67 downbeat with canister

Hey DJ333, you mentioned repair above. What's a more or less safe way to take a tiny edge crack out? I've got a 70's Avedis that has a tiny edge crack that hasn't moved since I've owned it but at some point I 'might' man up and tackle this repair :)

Eric - not a cymbal repair expert. But for 40 bucs - ya can't go wrong for those.....top is a bit heavy - but these are close to the New Beats - could sound excellent. Safe to say not as good as a pair without cracks, but sometimes after drilled / cut out cymbals can still sound very close to the original sound.

All I know about repairing cracks - is drill a hair past the hole. You don't want the edge of your hole to have a crack in it - as that itself will continue to grow. I have a 70s Avedis crash with a cut-out about the size of a golf ball - this cymbal is so wet anyway, you would never know the difference. So, I know that sometimes repairs can leave minimal sonic evidence.

I've done this many times in the past with a dremmel. Get the good black cutter wheels, and wear protective eye gear. Draw a smooth curve that takes in the crack and cut carefully. Use a Sharpie you can wipe it off with alcohol afterwards.

This is what my repairs looked like except I never let the crack go that deep [pic].
