Could someone help me ID/Value this Ludwig Kit

Loading...

Hey guys. Some guys on another drum forum told me people here might be able to help me out. I am mainly a guitar player and I don't have much knowledge about vintage drums. I picked these up at a garage sale when I was in highschool. I am moving to a new, smaller house and I have no room for drums so I have to sell these.

Prices on eBay and other sources seem to widly vary and I don't want to get ripped off. So hopefully you guys can help.

The drums have some cosmetic issues. There are some marks in the sparkle finish. The main marks are where black paint has worn off the kick drums rings though. I assume the rings can be repainted. You can see some of the screw things (lugs?) have come off the toms as well.

The last photos are of various hardware that I have no clue about. It came with the neat old Ludwig box and a lot of this stuff was in it.

Thanks for any advice you guys can give:

Set a reserve at $500.00...starting bid of $9.99. You'll probably generate some interest. Some of the lugs are gone...suggests that the bearing edges might be in poor shape....Some of the lugs are off/gone....again, suggests poor maintenance over the years....Many of the bass claws are replacements....Can't really see the shape of the finish, but red sparkle, while desirable, is not uncommon.

Of course, they would be great sounding drums with a little TLC!

That's my unofficial guess as to what to do if you want to sell them.

Thanks for the info. I am actually looking to sell these locally. I just don't really want to go through the hassle of shipping drums right now since I am in the process of moving.

A guy has offered me $450 Canadian for the kick, floor tom, and tom. Do you think that's a reasonable offer considering they aren't in the best condition?

Cool thanks for the advice.

I am going to hold on to the snare and the high hate because I love them both. If I ever get another small kit in the future I think I will appreciate having them. I have room to store those in the new house too, just not the rest of the kit.
