Correct Camco Bass Drum Logo

Loading...

I've got an Oaklawn Camco Kit. I'm trying to determine which Camco logo would have been period correct for the bass drum. I'm assuming it would have been one of the two shown in the pics below. Thanks in advance for your time and your help.

I think the second one is correct for Oaklawn kits.

Gary,

Actually I don't believe either are correct...for early to mid Oaklawn kits the logo and the large 'C' are smaller. Check item # 271 131 965 362 on eBay. That is the logo used on most Oaklawn kits in the catalogs anyway. Hope that helps.

For the brief time I've been researching Camco (which is only a few months), I think you are correct for an early 60's Camco. I went by some of the vintage photos of Dennis Wilson and others from that period in time. I don't know about later 60's...I suspect there may have been more than one logo for Oaklawn, but I don't know for sure. I'll be looking forward to responses from the experts. I put one of the small "C" logos on my early Oaklawn Tuxedo kit. Slightly crooked, of course.

Bob is kind of right. There were three or four logos. Most commonly Oaklawn kits had "small C" logos (there were two of them). I scanned one directly from a 20" head and Vintage Logos did some copies for me and still have it on file, should you want one.

The italic version is more around the Chanute/Kustom period and the large C more common on LA era drums though it did show up on the cover of the 1967 catalogue (still Oaklawn) though was probably retired during the Kustom ownership period.

I have a spare 20" Camco bass drum head. It could use some touching up but is the correct 60's head with logo.
