Cool Slingerland Kit

Loading...

I think often people mistake prices like his for being off from a supposed 'reasonable collectors value.' The rogers mount is original - it was installed by the dealer (according to him, but I believe him) and these are rare sizes. I think us vintage drummers think about our instruments in 'deals' and 'bargains' because for most of us this is a hobby. However, in my opinion, this is not a bad deal for what the instrument itself is. You can't buy a 20x12 or 14x16 on the market from any big name dealer- if you wanted those sizes, you would have to go the boutique route, which is exponentially expensive.

When you remove this set from the context of "vintage drums" and look at as a quality, sonically excellent instrument; i think his price is pretty reasonable. Not to mention the story behind them and the apparent rarity of the set.

If i ever won the lottery, I'd spend at least $15k of it on slingerlands; and I'd probably put this on my wish list.
