Howdy y'all, de-lurking to get some feedback.

Recently at our local jam session, the drummer had one of these:

Honestly, I hated it, particularly the "bass drum", no tone or volume, I've heard cardboard boxes sound better. The reviews I've read all say the set is not suitable for a regular night club, but only for living rooms & piano lounges. Also he was going the mini-cymbal route, his "ride" was a 14" & five 6-8" splashes. At least they were all Zildjian As.

Of course he's still got the original MIJ POS* heads & indulges in one of my pet peeves: Tuning the snare super low to get a fat sound, which in my opinion, simply doesn't work on a tiny snare like that.

Thoughts?

I use a little Tama StageStar kit when playing outdoor gigs but I play a Rogers Tower snare with it. Those little Tama snares are indeed a little sketchy.

Not a Guru... just interested..
