So I actually bought this drum for parts but I have a hard time letting go.
The previous owner peeled the original wrap along with most of the mahogany outer ply. In one place it looks like he actually sanded some of the bdp wrap off, as there was still some melted to the outer ply.
I was the dumbass who put the putty on to see if I could level out some spots. Obviously this was a bad idea. I'm sure it would kill the resonance, well maybe not as much as you'd think.
Can I get the rest of the mahogany outer ply off, or am I kidding myself?
Maybe one of you carpenters have some suggestions.
I am willing to pay someone to fix it.
I would like to set this guy up as a player for my '65 combo clubdate.
