Hi Kevin,
I think I may have the cowbell you're looking for. I've attached a photo of what I have; it's a bit tarnished, but I think it will clean up nicely. There are no dents and it has a script logo with 'Chicago' stamped below it between the tails of the 'L' and 'G'. Let me know if this is the bell you're looking for...
Thanks!
Randy

The mount is found.
Still need the Clear Tone Cow Bell
It will have the Paiste logo stamped on it, I believe.
Thanks
That's the Gold Tone pictured above, right? I have one of those too Kevin if that doesn't work out and it's what you're looking for. I'm not familiar with the Clear Tone.
Hey bud. I went through the cats and found the two cow bells (4 inch and 5 inch). They are both called Gold Tone and both are noted for the Clear Tones they project. I checked several of the cats and they both come up this way. They are listed with kits in several different ways. I saw them as cow bells and clear tone cow bells. I think you might be searching for a 5 inch Gold Tone cow bell that may carry a second moniker "Clear Tone" due to the larger size and volume it would produce. Just a thought. The copy is definitely pointing that direction.
Here is why I'm thinking in the direction I'm thinking.
In the parts section of some of the catalogs, they refer to some of the cowbells as Swiss Made...
In the cat scan for '67 Super Classics, and others, the part number is 129, same as Gold Tone, but it is referred to as a Clear Tone... capatilized, as if it is the name of an item ....
In the Jeff Olcheltree video about the Bonham green glitter set, he refers to a Ludwig cowbell, made by Paiste.
I think the pic I posted is one of those.
So, we know they exist.... maybe under the name Clear Tone, maybe some other, but what would that be?
Yes, I see in the 1964 catalog it states "No. 129-5" Clear Tone Cow Bell" on the super classic page. However in the cow bell section it's called a Golden Tone and has the same part number.
I reveiwed the Jeff Olcheltree video again and could see the Ludwig logo at the top of the cow bell. To my eyes it looks like a Golden Tone.
WOW the photo you posted looks just like a logo from a Ludwig Paiste 1960 cymbal and it sure is different than the CB in the catalogs. Thanks for the information. I guess the rumor is confirmed that Paiste made cow bells! Now what is it made of B20, B8, NS12, or what?
