Cleaning Ludwig Stainless Steel Drums Last viewed: 2 days ago

Loading...

This is a follow-on inquiry to my initial

request concerning Ludwig heads.

Could you recommend a cleaner for the

stainless steel shells. I have tried

Brasso, which is okay. However, there

are some foreign materials on the shells,

on which Brasso seems to have little

effect. Could you recommend a rouge

with an abrasive effective for cleaning and polishing stainless steel.

I don't know if you can get it in the US, but Goddards foaming silver polish works a treat.

Plus, this may sound mad, but fine sand and vinegar can be used. But very sparingly.

Hello, I have the same stainless steel set you mention. My set was rather dirty also. I use a product called Flitz and have been using it for over 20 years on cleaning drums and hardware. It worked exceptionally well on the SS set and they shine like they were new.

Here is another good article on the main web site that talks about restoring and cleaning drums.

You can purchase Flitz online or in some hardware stores or specialty stores. The article mentions other methods of cleaning.

In regards to the specific foreign material, I would need a better description of what that is.

Thanks
