Choosing lugs for restoration Last viewed: 42 minutes ago

Hi, I'm looking for some advise on lugs. I have a single tension, brass snare drum from the 30's or 40's. The drum is fitted with eight eyelets per eight single tension rod. The drum has a total of eight factory holes drilled centrally in the shell for the eyelets. Most shells will have two holes drilled per lug. This drum has one hole per lug or in this case, per eyelet.

Are there any lugs out there today that can connect to a drum with just one screw? I would like to make this drum a separate tension drum without needing to drill the shell if at all possible.

I have seen some Noble & Cooley snares that use a lug which appears to need just one hole to connect to the shell. (see pic) I can imagine these lugs are very rare, not to mention very expensive. If anyone out there can think of a similar design that might work please let me know. I like the brass shell and it might be nice as a player's snare if I can transform it from single tension to separate tension.

Any help appreciated. Thanks.

I'm not sure who makes them, but I have lugs like that on 90's PJL snare, so I'm assuming if they were being used by boutique builders then they must be available. The gold plating on mine hasn't done that well with time. Wish I could help more...
