Checking Out "Attic Drumset" Monday Morning Last viewed: 2 minutes ago

One of my customers who I have a nice relationship with, lost her father a couple months ago, a man in his 80's. In conversation three weeks ago, she mentioned the family is cleaning out his house and having a tag sale. She casually mentioned also that there was an old drumset in the attic. What?!

My antennae immediately went up, as most of you would understand.

I have an appointment to meet her at the house Monday morning to see the drums. I'm bringing cash with me. She has no idea what they are, but she said the heads were broken-as expected-and dad hadn't played them in years.

When I asked her when he bought them, she figured the 1940's-50's. I think he was a hobby player, maybe the occasional gig.

So, I'll let you all know what I find Monday night. I'm bringing my camera to take photos. I'm hoping against hope that it's a Radio King set, but regardless, if they're nice and restorable, they're coming home with me. The cymbals are there too. Maybe vintage Zildjians. Maybe K's!

I'm getting my hopes up too much. We'll see what they are. They could be Japanese stencils for all I know. That's not a bad thing either.

Anything from the 40-50's would be killer! I hope for you they are in restorable condition and a Radio King kit as well, well here I am getting my hopes up now!

Good luck, we will be waiting for those pictures.

Now that's my kind of excitement. I love the idea that she doesn't know a thing about them. Have fun, and don't keep us waiting:)Mind Blowi

Hey, Bob:

It's great to see your name on a forum again. I hope that all is well. I'm anxious to find out what ghosts (old drums) you discover in the attic. I wish you the best of good fortune.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

O yeah. I recommend a zen state for the rest of the weekend, if you can muster one. The bright side is you know the party & there's not that ? in your mind that says, "Is seller a flake? & going to change her mind?" or "Is she going to sell it to the next Joe who calls?"

Hope you find what you're dreaming for - Chris

Very excited for you. I love it when one of us gets a cool score like this. He is no respector of persons ... meaning, if one can succeed, I can succeed. Cool stuff, this. Seriously looking forward to the pics.
