CHEAP scar prevention

So I was in Pep Boys today to get some new wipers, and saw these in the two packs for $3.00 bin.

They come in black, chrome and clear.Clapping Happy2

Snap these on your rims to keep your shells from sustaining major damage from metal hoops of nearby drums... The snare is obvious but also any mounted toms that might contact the bass drum. And they are barely noticeable.

I bought two packs in chrome but noticed they have a chrome sticker on them, so clear might have been a better idea. I suppose the sticker can be peeled off too.

Anyway, for what its worth...:D

J!m - if you try it, please let me know if it -muffles- the sound or volume of the drums. I'm curious about how adding that padding to the rims will affect/alter the 'sound' of the drums. If at all. Coffee Break2

Too many great drums to list here!

I wouldn't expect much of a muffling effect. These are a semi-rigid plastic, not a soft foam. So, by the same token, if you hit the drums together hard enough, this would still dent a lacquer drum, but probably would not take a chip like an uncovered steel or brass hoop would.

In the past, small diameter rubber hose has been split and slid on. Rubber hose is softer (in my opinion) that this plastic. Even that I would not expect much of a change in sound, but you never know...

These have a small hook to help them stay on too.

If they sound interesting, I'd grab some and try them before they are gone or the price goes up. Less than a cup of coffee Coffee Break2 to try...
