Champagne '66 Jazz Festival

Just finished puttering around with this one today.

Really just a dis-assembly, polishing. replacement of some tension rods and a TAMA strainer.....

It left a dad-gum hole above the strainer, of course.....DUHHH....

Two replacement screws on the butt....one was stripped and the other looks replaced to me.

Seven replacement tension rods....those are all square head without the "nibs"

Thanks, Optikitdrummer for the rods....got them on Ebay

There's pits on lugs and rims and some rust left.....go figure, she's nearly fifty.

I left everything I could the same as it arrived and brought her back from there.....rims were real rusty and lugs/inserts were a mess.

I tried not to intrude too heavily with this one...

I'm happy.

BTW, she sounds GREAT with a coated Emperor and a Evans Hazy 300....

Found some old 20-strand Snappi wires in a drawer I'd forgotten about.

I'm Really Jazzed, cause it matches my '65 Champagne Super Classics very well !!

That's a nice one Kev, extra hole and all. J-fests are some of my favorite wood snare drums. They have such a great, warm, woody tone to them. Especially the ones from that era. I am currently playing on my Luddy Sky Blue Pearl kit and the drum I'm enjoying the most is the sound of that J-fest.

Enjoy yours!

John

Too many great drums to list here!

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.
