Hello all, I just picked up a new Pearl wood fiberglass kit over the holidays in an antique gold finish. There is an inner layer of fiberglass with kapur wood. They have a vintage vibe with traditional sized drums, mine has a 9x13, 16x16, 14x22. The toms have a 45 degree bearing edge and the kick has the rounded bearing edge. They are very warm sounding drums, much like my vintage Ludwigs. The fiberglass helps them have a more consistent sound in various venues, unlike some all wood kits that can change from room to room. Even though they are not "vintage", they have become my go to kit. Anyone else played one of these?

I haven't played one of the newer kits, but I played a 70s version at a blues jam a few months back and was impressed with its sound. It was a silvery color.
Gorgeous kit you have; and I like the old style badges.

It's funny that you just bought one, because a friend of mine wants to trade one exactly like yours for my Ludwig walnut cortex kit. I had never heard of them until he asked me to trade. It sounds like you are happy with the sound, but are they heavy drums? I love my 6ply kit, but it's very heavy which makes them kind of a pain to gig with. I'm not a big fan of Pearl, new or vintage, but this one looks pretty cool.
Btw, beautiful finish.
