I'm not sure which you are speaking of, but I can attest that Canon drums were available WAY back in the early to mid 80's in New Orleans. They were not traditional toms and such. They were long tubes of different lengths that resembled octabons. They had great sound, but did not stay around. So, that's my input. Anyone else?

Well, these are just standard drums, I don't think they have anything to do with the canon drums you mention, but maybe they started out making those, and the name's still around?

Check the spelling of the drums. If it's CANNON, then it's the cheap fecal like substance distributed from the asian area of the world. They make cymbal arms, clamps, and all sorts of drummer stuff. They are a massive distribution conglomerate that has put their name on some garbage drums. My advice - stay away from them. They are icky.

If the spelling is with one 'N', then you are talking about the long tube like drums. There were several that came out in the 80's. There was the BooBams, Dragon Drums, Canon Drums, and of course the Octabons. They were all pretty cool.

The same Cannon did those 8" maple octabons in the 80s. Still around and associated with Universal Percussion. Great source for parts and accessories. I needed a 12-hole 14" tri-flange snareside hoop last month and Cannon/UP was the only source I found.
