I've recently taken delivery of a late 50s WFL player-grade kit and am in the process of cleaning it up. In trying to remove one of the lugs from the bass drum and one of the screw heads broke off. I'm going to attempt to drill it out and use a recovery tool to get the remainder of the screw out of the lug but, if I'm not successful I am considering my options in terms of a replacement.

Original chrome lugs of a similar age appear to be pretty expensive in comparison with the modern P2243B replacement part. If I have to replace, I would prefer to use a lug of a similar age but I'm not prepared to pay over the odds for it. Are there any good reasons why I wouldn't use a P2243B? I thought that perhaps because it is a 3-ply shell that the fixings on the modern lugs might extend too far into the shell but it appears that the lugs are supplied with screw fixings of three different lengths to accommodate varying shell thicknesses.
