I really wanted the wood grain to show and for it to look like a nice instrument.

Boy did you succeed! Absolutely stunning, a dream-finish. Love it.

Walter,Since your father went through all that trouble to get natural, unfinished shells from the factory, he obviously did not want a stock, factory finish or wrap. I think you did the right thing by restoring them back to their original state... simple walnut stain. Enjoy them, and I hope they will always bring you fond memories of your dad.Any pics of your dad playing them?Mike

Thank you. A lot of thought (and work) went into these. I think of him often.

I called my mom. She's looking. Neither were much for taking photos, but there's

got to be something.

I agree with Kevin...These look great!! Are you hooked yet?Cheers

I think so. The drums sound great tuned high and low. Very warm. Oddly, the 13inch tom, which I wasn't excited about, sounds beautiful.

Why do I suddenly want a bop kit and a chrome snare? LOL

They turned out beautifully. Nice work. You've saved another set of vintage drums!
