Camco or Gretsch Floating Action pedal???

Hey, y'all -- I have almost enough parts to build both, but I'm missing just a few. So it's one or the other.

Which would be a more desirable-- a vintage Camco, or a Gretsch Floating Action pedal??

I'm inclined toward the Gretsch, because ... well, I just am.

Either one will be the full refurb job, so that'll be fun. Just finished a great ol' Camco pedal so I've got the idea.

But, any votes??

I'd go with Gretsch...but aren't they exactly the same with the exception of the main footboard casting? You can have either one within a minute or so simply by pulling out 3 screws and swapping footboards.

They're almost the same... but the Gretsch frame I have has a different piece on the end of the crossbar, that the upper spring hook attaches to. The Camco has a metal 'plate' with 3 adjusting screw positions. The Gretsh has a solid metal piece -- it's held in place with a pin that is solid metal--and removing it it is impossible.

That part on the Gretsch pedal is quite the work of art!

If it were me, I would go for the one I had the fewest (or none) of, and if that were not a factor, then the one that is the most useful, as far as adjustments go.

The position of that pin sets where the beater comes to rest, so if that's not adjustable, it better be in a place where you like it!

They both would come that way, I think in different generations of manufacture? I have a camco and a gretsch and they have the same rocker setup, but I saw an older camco in a drum shop that had the stamped steel "plate" for a rocker

I was just cleaning up my photobucket albums, and found a picture of Gretsch and Camco side by side. In the era, they were nearly identical.

But the Gretsch I have is an older version -- 50's, 60's?-- and the piece we're talking about is a solid, machined piece of steel.

It's really a work of art!

And I discovered last night I may have enough parts for both. In the box I found four or five bearings. Evidently I found a source for them when I was re-working the Floating Action.

All I need is an appropriate hinge (I may have found one that's pretty close), and the piece that is attached to the hinge that holds the round piece that attaches the pedal to the frame. There must be real names for these!

Here's a pic of the Gretsch part, and the other one from the Camco, which is also steel.
