Camco L.A. restoration advice?

Loading...

Great stuff. The bass drum t-rods are almost impossible to come by and extremely expensive when they do. I'd get yourself something workable in the short term and keep your eyes peeled. I picked up a couple recently from a guy who had lots of old parts but that was a real wild card.

DW did a version of these but they have that irritating small, tight thread they do (if you can find them) and also hella expensive.

Your countryman Ronn Dunnett does a few "Camco-like" parts for his Geo. Way revival line - might be worth trying to touch bases with him as well (I'm thinking specifically floor tom mounts and legs).

If you like a wood finish that would be very easy

sand all paint off shells progress to a fine grit then plug all holes that won't be needed , buy a few sheets of very thin 1/64 veneer of your choice, contact cement the veneer on your shells and finish with Tung oil multi coats no sprayer needed and very forgiving.... depending on the veneer you choose it could be a few hundred bucks and will look as new
