I'll consider a cymbal if it sounds good with what I already own. If it can't blend as part of an ensemble, then I don't need it.

I doubt that I would ever buy a cymbal that was structurally damaged, no matter how good it sounds, just because there's no way to know how long the sound would last ... further damage might alter the sound.

But then again, if I found a China that sounded like Mallaber's or Bill Bruford's on "One More Red Nightmare," I would make an exception.
