Buying heads for larger sets?

Hey Guys,

Recently I have picked up a couple of larger sets, one 7 piece and one 9 piece, that need all new heads. I like to buy the drum head packs cause of the better price and they usually include a "free" snare batter head. I can't find packs larger than for the standard 3 toms and a snare and none include an 18".

So I'm planning to just buy packs that have some of sizes and fill the rest with singles but it got me wondering if you guys with the larger kits have had luck with finding drum head packs for larger sets or have found places may give a discount for buying a bunch of heads to outfit a larger set?

There are a few sellers on ebay that sell used heads from back-line set rentals...Normally, they are only used for 1 or 2 shows, in great shape and are relatively cheaper compared to brand new...

Just an option...

You might check with http://www.columbuspercussion.com/store/ they offer free shipping and usually find a way to knock off some bucks on large in-store purchases. Just a suggestion.

It's hard to beat drum factory direct for heads, sticks, etc.; especially with free shipping if your order is at least $100.

I would think that if you called any of the larger sellers out there, they'd "make" a pack for you with a discount.

I know if I ran a drum shop, I'd do it, rather than lose the sale.

Thank you for the ideas gentlemen.

My wife has been pretty patient lately with me finding these "deals" I just can't pass up, but her patience is starting to wear a little thin with bits and pieces of drum stuff popping up every other day or so so I need to be a little better with how much I spend!
