Im wondering if that kit is the 40s radio king set that he used from about 84 onwards. I've got a DVD where he definitely uses that last set, I don't know if it's just me but this one he's using here lookes a bit newer? HIS drums always just sound realy crisp as well, I don't know how he gets them to sound so crisp.

Those are indeed the 40's era restored Radio Kings! It was the LAST set Buddy played, and he played 'em from 1983 'till he passed in 1987. They were just a year after their complete restoration here, hence why I think they look so "new". By the time Buddy passed in 1987, the drums were definitely showing their age as well as all the miles BR put on them. They always did sound good though!
