DOES ANYONE KNOW IF LUDWIG PUT BLUE AND OLIVE BADGE ON BURGUNDY SPARKLE ?? IN 1969 OR 70 ???? i am restoring my 69 to a burgundy sparkle and dont know if i should replace the b/o badges with gold badges !!!! found this pic on ebay but dont know if it is original ????? thanks Paul

Paul that is at the transition period 1969 the blue olive badge is correct, I have a 1969 acrolite with a blue olive badge also.

Here is a 22" base drum that has no serial number on the badge. I have read that these badges are from 1970/71?

The largest number of blank badges seem to be from 1970 (based on those with date stamps), but there is (as always) a spread going a bit earlier and a bit later. Blank badges seen to come in after the serial number sequence was established on the b/o badges (not right at the beginning as some might believe). At least that's where the evidence seems to point.

The transition from gold keystone to blue/olive seems to begin in 1969. I'd be interested to know the serial numbers if you have any from that period. I've got an early (but by no means the earliest) b/o set with 760xxx badges so I've been interested in that changeover. Mine don't have date stamps. If yours do that would be really great to know.

I see a paper tag on that bass as well. I'd like to know what is on it, because that's another area of current research. Does it have a date, or some sort of code?
