Hey Jinx, is that the 'Pooder Pool' from the old house, or do you have a 'Pooder pool' at the new place? LOL

Naked shells sunning in the pool... jeez, you could have at least put bikini's on them for the photo shoot.

Well........I gots to ask.......why are the shells soaking in the pool? Hot day and they wanted to take a dip? ;) I dunked my Radio Kings in Long Island Sound and they now have that fat wet sound I love. Tho they do reek a bit like low tide. Toilet

Mine was going the Mendozart route also.

Doin the sinking Titanic thing.

This shot required swimming trunks and a trasher shirt.

Got in the pool with the drum and an iphone in shirt pocket.

Set the ship "Concert Tom" afloat.

It immediately began to take on water.

Quickly grabbed phone and snapped off 2 quick ones.

It was going down quickly man.

I just set the shell into a 16" drum head to see if it would float.

It did, but the voyage was not to be a "3 hour tour".

"Skipper..........we're sinking......Oooph......little buddy... Hold On"

"SKIPPER"

I know.......it's weird.

But it's fun.

It's a fiberglass thing.

I use a hose to wash these off before clear coating.

A dip in the pool is another good way to clean before clear coat.

That pool was at Jinx's old house. He used to take all his drum portraits out by the pool. We all used to ride him about his 'Pooder shots'. Pooder, BTW is on to something. For some reason I cannot explain, drum sets look killer when you pose them in front of a pool! You can take a beater firewood MIJ kit, plunk it down in front of a pool on a sunny day and you'll swear the sun is shining out of the kits a$$. Damn swimming pools just makes drum shots look great. Go figure!

John,

I think every ad agency already knows this. Doesn't every cold bottle of beer look better in front of a pool or on a beach in front of the water? We always seem to photograph our sets in the house. Think how much nicer any one of our sets would look with a pool, a beach, a snow-capped mountain, or a sunset in the background. I think we have a theme for a new thread!

Drums in scenic places! I put this one together in Photoshop. Using a good editing program, you can put drums anywhere! In space, the Vatican, inside the exercise yard of a Venezuelan women's prison... let your imagination run wild!

No matter where the drums are photographed, if it's outdoors, we'll just refer to them as, Pooder Shots!
