commercial success the beach boys 5 number 1 hits, the Beatles 27 number 1 hits

Considering the next best is the Bee Gees, Elton John and Paul McCartney with 9 and then George Michael and The Rolling Stones with 8 I think that's a pretty good indication of where they all stand. I didn't think anyone could really doubt the beatles' impact and through association what Ringo did. Hell, I have Pet Sounds on vinyl and I couldn't have told you who the drummer was until his name came up in this thread.

Im not trying to debate something dictated by mass media- rolling stone, mtv etc. Masses buy into whatever mediocrity thats shoved down their throats. Quantity vs quality. The beatles being the quantity of what the media latched onto after the depression of the kennedy assassination, and the beach boys being the quality known for what it was and is. Stating something that some are afraid to even if its obvious doesnt make a pundit a "troll" or phishing scam. We can play the copout game with anything but its pointless and not my intent.

Kook, you just dig a deeper hole. You are a product of your generation, please tell me where you have learned your skewed History from, ?? Lame once again I call you to place a poll here on the VDF, them to play the instrument, To see which drummer started or motivated them to play the instrument, Ringo Starr or Dennis Wilson, I know you will not do so .

Your drummers not much good is he!? What you need is someone that's as good as me. ! John Henry Bonham !!

If I'm being completely honest, it was Bev Bevan for me, or more accurately, ELO's "A New World Record." I can't explain why, but at that time in my life, and with no older siblings to guide me, that particular album made me sit up and take notice.

Once I started playing and doing more in-depth listening, I learned about the big names in short order.

Thats fine Im not saying Im not aware of conformity/ thats what I pointed out before: people thrive on what mtv and rolling stone tell them to consume...and how dare you bring my 'generation' into it when Im one of the VERY FEW informed younger people with taste. I discovered rockNroll before I was in first grade, and I stuck with it! I started my record collection shortly thereafter and then after a decade of consuming and absorbing the best god.damn music in american history I became a drummer. And I did it with no intention of drawing attention to myself, the sole reason I remain a drummer is to keep great music thriving and to spread it to younger people and hope that after seeing me jam out do you wanna dance or louie louie that that young person goes and buys a beach boys record, or the kingsmen , 4 seasons etc . Whats the point in diessecting and misconstruing every synopsis I make, were all drummers here, were on the same team; I dont undermine anyone I jus try to get input and information, that doesnt make me a "troll" or "phisher" as I saw previously mentioned.
