Big ass CB700 kit.

Well in a moment of weakness and nostalgia I bought some late 70's early 80's CB drums. I intend on rewrapping them with vinyl similar to the old Ludwig black panther wrap.

The shells I picked up are: 8x12",9x13",10x14" double headed toms, 15x16"floortom, two 14x22" bass drums

6.5x10", 12x15" and 14x16 concert toms.

I'll be adding an 8x10" tom and a 16x18" floortom I already had lying around.

Most likely I'll keep the concert toms seperate, I always see the smaller Taiwanese ones for sale locally. For now I'm going to focus on building up a 9 piece double kick set.

Make your own wrap, i bought clear lexan sheets 4 x 8' high gloss for $20 each and i painted the interiors and added some sparkles. Total cost for the whole kit $35.

I just went to the fabric store and bought vinyl. 52" length by the yard. 1/2 off coupon bought enough to wrap the double bass kit and some extras. Under $50

Got the toms and one floortom wrapped.

Still gotta clean up the chrome. But the satin black makes the chrome pop.

I'm also short one tom arm and bracket.

I have wondered about the availability of clear sheets that are colored to enable adding them over a silver sparkle or faded other colors to spiff them up. Do you know if that's do-able?

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

Tough if you don't color the inside because you have to use tape or glue that will show through. Plus plastic over the original wrap will give you problems with the heads because of the thickness.

Not a big fan of the matt or satin finishes, but I have to say that those look great. Very classy look. Nice job!

I think I have a pair of those tom mount/brackets. I bought them with the impression that they were angled bass spur mounts, but despite the angled look they have, the hex rods lock at a right angle into them. They're not going to work for me, so PM me if you need them.

Chris,

Here's a picture of the tom mounts I have which I mistakenly thought were the CB700 spur mounts (they look so similar). I've since picked up the spur mounts, so these are yours if you want them.

Sent you a PM.
