Best way to fix split Ludwig re-ring

Loading...

Hi Guys,

I've just bought a 60's Ludwig bass drum shell but it's been damaged in delivery.

What's my best way to fix it - wood glue and clamps?

Hope it's still going to be usable

Thanks

Yep, as John said...

Mask off the area around the repair with painter`s tape...You can use flat toothpicks to spread the glue around inside the joint...I also use them as wedges to hold the joint open to give room to glue properly...Try to cover both mating surfaces and let sit for a few minutes before clamping...

Cheers

I was going to go the Batman, or Dracula route with my comment too, I just thought it might be too on-the-nose! LOL

It was just cool to see the bat hanging there like it was watching sensei wrestle that bass drum.

in theory can we open it all the way and re align than put in round clamp to achieve a nice in round drum jst thinking out loud

April 2nd 1969 scarfed pink champagne holly wood and 65/66 downbeat snare, and , supra same year very minty kit old pies
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.
