For me, its the satisfaction of saving a drum that would otherwise have been scrapped and bringing it back to life. It may not be original any more, but at least its a drum that can be used, appreciated & admired now.

I love it. Whenever i get a project going, although i must say it's not often for me, it's a way to keep busy without being stressed, and it actually helps me relax.. It's like having a nice Whiskey by the fire during the holiday season, only i'm the only i'm the one who gets to enjoy it.. But, the drums do get a facelift, and that's something all drums enjoy,

that is to say, if they talked ! LOL ! :p

The drums don't speak complete sentences but they do seem to convey a mojo when bringing a neglected one back to life.

Another bit I love is finding that missing item after years of looking. This is one.

16x16 duco floor tom on a Slingerland pat pend cradle. Only have seen one other cradle like this and never a FT.

I agree 100%. Something about the personal sense of accomplishment too. Especially when you look at the "before & after". Many of the kits I own and play now were neglected, lonely and sad drums. Now when I play them out, it's extra satisfying to know that I made them look, function and sound this way. Even if nobody else "gets" that, it's something I can be proud of!

Ludwig collection of sets and pioneer snare drums.
Example of Rogers,Slingerland,Gretsch,Premier and Ajax sets.
Various '60's and '70's US,English and Japanese snare drums.
