Bent single flange hoop on Leedy&Ludwig

I’m spending some quality time on the Leedy & Ludwig 15*8 Concert snare project .

I put it together, with heads and wires just to see what’s what. One thing I discovered is that the top hoop isn’t round. It’s a NOB single flange. I’m attaching two pictures- I don’t know if they really help! The first one is ‘the bulge,‘ the second is where it’s normal.

a section of the hoop kind of ‘bulges’ out about .25” ... or less.

What’s a good way to tackle this? My first idea is take the hoop off, apply pressure (as in, lean on it) to bend it back into shape.

Help, please!

No pull on it. It looks to me the top flange is bent inward from rim shots.

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!

I'm not sure whether you referring to the 15" hoop being out of round or the stick-chopper rim is "flared" or bent. You can check by placing a drum head in the hoop to see if it fits easily. If it is the former, the brass hoop will give easily with gentle pressure. I saw Stan at the Professional drum shop do this by first finding the exact point that was out and placed it on the floor between his shoes and applied a short burst of gentle pressure downward and then measuring again. Repeat as necessary.

If it is a bent stick-chopper rim, I'm not sure. Take it to a good metal shop? Good luck!!

The stick chopper rim is bent a bit, but the hoop is also out of round.

A little gentle pressure, a little more ....

It worked out fine.

Thanks for the tips.
