Bent ludwig Badge Last viewed: 2 days ago

Any advice how best to bend badge back closer to original flatness without removing from the drum? Badge's bent sort of like a banana top to bottom. The grommet is the loosest on any vintage drum I've come across; but doesn't appear to have been tampered with. Whomever applied it at the factory must have been sleeping.

Thanks ~ Chris

Update : the grommet was so loose that I wound a lot of waxed dental floss beneath the badge (enough so it would have a difficult time sliding down the grommet) so the badge would stay elevated when I placed a piece of wood to hold the inside of the grommet flush with the inside of the shell as I placed 1 QUICK-GRIP on the top of the badge + 1 QUICK-GRIP on the bottom of the badge and applied pressure in the hopes of flattening the badge out + thus avoiding any grommet removal. I left these overnight.

The next morning to my surprise the badge was flattened significantly out again. I didn't think it would do anything at all.

Anyway, thought some would have this issue in future. Give it a try.

I was thinking wrap two thick strings with a slip knot around the drum and over the badge avoiding the hole, then pull tight, when it`s tight, use two ball peen hammers to tighten the grommet.

But if you done good leave it.

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!
