I use a bamboo skewer, placed in the crack to widen it out, then I work in a small amount of epoxy. It is about 3 bucks at most places, for a 5 or 30 minute type. Don't use the instant, it sets up too fast. Also, you can use a plastic putty knife, for another 50 cen ts or so, and work it in. Go to my youtube page, here for a how to:

I ended up fixing the edge with some elmers wood glue. Got the hole and crack filled and it's smooth and even, it was a easy fix.

I took the drums to a local drum guy (Billy Baker) to have it wrapped. He filled in old lug holes to install new lugs too. All the other chrome hardware cleaned up like new. Also had him fill in one of the top mount holes and moved the mount to the other side. Worked better for spacing.

Went with a 10" Pearl firercracker snare. This little thing is awesome with a remo vintage ambassador. The finish is from drum supply house or drummaker.com They are a local shop too. It's ruby red diamond pearl. Was gonna go with sparkle but thought the pearl would be nice. Steve

Yea, I'm havin' fun jammin' on it. I played on it for awhile Sunday. Noticed today my right shin and calf is a little sore. I guess not either used to the stand up playin' or my technique is wrong.

I'm hopin' I get it down though cause I love the sounds. The snare has a nice crack and the kick has a descent thump. The floor tom is kind of like a thud because I used one of those remo muff L rings under it. With this, it makes the kick sound great and I mainly just use bass and snare anyways. But the floor tom will do.

Next thing is new cymbals. The 10" hats are ok, but I'm gonna stay on the look for used 10" splash cymbals to mess with. Gonna find a descent 16" to use for crash ride to replace the 14" meinl hcs cymbal.

Where the cowbell is, I'm gonna get a arm for the mini hats. Then I will use the cymbal arm for a 16" crash and maybe mount a 12" splash on top.

I'm enjoyin' this though.

The cramping and soreness seems no more. I guess it's kind of like when you lift weights for the first time, you are pretty sore the next day. But after about a week, the soreness goes away. Guess my leg muscled needed to adjust.

Here's better pics of the kit setup. I do plan to get another L-Rod to replace the z-rod that the hi hat is mounted to. I also got new cymbal arms too.

I am using some 12" splashes for hats, they sound killer, and I also have a pair of 10s that I have dona as well, and they are really cool as hats. Not too terribly loud, but nice.

What splash cymbals areyou using? I've heard people using the wuhans.

I actually have a mixed pair on both. The 10s are Wuhan and Sabian, the 12s are Wuhan and an old MIJ, from Whitehall, or actually Pearl. Nice sonds. Different, cool, just all around a good solid chick, and expressive play from both. Although they are not loud, they make for easy play in a quiet environment, and for practice, which I need many years....

Surprisingly, ALL are hand hammered, even the modern ones.
