First time post. Amazing amount of information here. You guys are incredibly helpful and your suggestions are great. Can really see love for vintage drums here. I must be in the right place.

I'm thick in the middle of a Slingy restoration. I needed a good challenge and boy, I got one. As best as I can tell, it's a 1976 era large set with a COB Buddy Rich snare (two 24" basses, two rack toms, 2 floors). The set has a natural maple finish. It's obvious the set was gigged hard (not abused), retired and left to the elements in a damp basement. Another few months and this baby would've been ready for the trash man. Saved just in time!

My question, (and I have many more), does anyone have use for badly pitted Slingy stick saver chrome hoops? For this restore, they're too damaged, even when cleaned up, to look good considering I plan to have the shells porfessionally sprayed with poly coat. I hate to simply toss them. I priced chrome plating, particularly for the snare hoops, but OUCH, what an expense! $90 per hoop at a local plating house. Too rich for my blood as I see 70's era Buddy's go for about $300 on the bay. And while I'm at it, what would be the best replacement hoops for the snare (4.5X14 10 lug) to reatin the vintage?
