Those of us that really know Slingerland lugs, especially the style introduced in 1955, can usually spot a clone, copycat, etc. I've called out many sellers on eBay, letting them know that the lugs they believe to be Slingerland are MIJ clones. Most times, they appreciate this heads-up and change their title and description. Of course, there are those who staunchly stand by their decision that they are Slingerland lugs! I just received a reply from one of these sellers, saying he's been dealing with Slingerland for 30 years and knows what Slingerland lugs look like. I replied back with why I knew they are not Slingerland and offered to buy them if he can prove they are Slingerland. By the time I hit "send" and went back to look at the lugs, this seller had already ended the auction due to an "error in the listing". Coincidence?
Attached is a picture of more Slingerland lugs from a seller many of you may be familiar with. Question: did Slingerland ever produce this lugs without mounting feet? Also, the lug just doesn't look like a true Slingerland lug to me. If I am mistaken, I will gladly, and humbly, admit that I am wrong.
Thank you all for letting me rant, and vent, with this!
