I often See "Dawn" detergent recommended here for cleaning up Chrome.. Until now I had not found it sold in OZ. Whilst cleaning out a kitchen cupboard I found a mailbox sample of Dawn (vintage not known).. I contacted the supplier and found that Dawn is now marketed in OZ as " Fairy " both in liquid and tablet form. The supplier tells me it is exactly the same formula...

"Fairy" branded products are available from Coles supermarkets...

Cheers

John

Bring a plain brown paper bag with you so that no other men see you leaving the store with something named, Fairy!

LOL

Dawn does work! Been using it for years. Soak parts overnight and rust is gonzo. Doesn't harm the chrome or metal.

Do you believe in Fairies?

John

Too many great drums to list here!

Australian musicians are mourning the unexpected loss of jazz great Kerrie Biddell last week. Kerrie was an vocalist and teacher, most recently at The NSW Conservatorium of Music in Sydney. She was an incredible singer, with an encyclopaedic knowledge of jazz and other forms of contemporary music. Kerrie could sight sing, read any chart and hear a wrong note or chord instantly. She was funny, witty, humble and just as comfortable discussing Art Blakey as Billie Holiday. Every time she was around, music and musicians became that much more exciting and important. Although we didn’t share a stage many times (her bands were jazz ensembles of frightening capability) I had the pleasure of recording her and the intonation and purity of her voice was astounding. We taught together for quite a few years and the way she taught singing was really inspiring. I feel very fortunate to have seen her at two of my gigs last month, where she turned up with charts and CD’s of hard to get vinyl as gifts for the whole band. This kind of thing was not unusual, but since she suffered very badly from rheumatoid arthritis her entire life and had difficulty getting around it was even more special. Kerrie was much loved and and will be sorely missed. kerrie had not performed much in recent times but this clip something of what she could bring to a song. Taken from a popular daytime TV show in the 1980’s, it also features Julian Lee on piano, an incredible musician who arranged the song. Vale Kerrie Biddell.
