I remember auditioning for a cowboy band, (as Buddy liked to call them), several years ago. We were playing the straight forward typical country music, when the singer/songwriter says, (now imagine this said with a deep southern accent), "I wanna try a song a writ, (just kidding, he didn't really say writ), I like to see if people I'm auditioning can grasp it." So we start playing this song I'd never heard before, it's starts out pretty simple, then, out of nowhere it goes into a strange odd time, like a train derailing and crashing over a bridge into the river below. He says, "ok, stop, let's try that again", so we pick up right before the train wreck and the same thing happens. We play a couple more songs and he says, "thanks, that's enough, we'll call you."
The bass player calls and says that he really liked me, but the singer wants to keep looking.
It's just as well, playing all that cowboy music would had bored me to tears.CryBaby
