HI everybody...a time ago i got a snare a I have never seen, I just knew it wasn?t usual snare...now I know...it?s asba snare with ten lugs, it?s whole made from metal, it has inside damper and interesting tension mechanism...I just want to know som other information about it, how old it can be ( I couldn?t find any serial number or year of production on it) or how much is it worth today....thanks a lot...

Asba were a French company who went down in 1981. I remember mainly as having quite a few "wacky" ideas like shells cut in half with alligator clips on the side so you could store one drum inside the other. Never played a kit but knew a couple of people who swore by them.

There is (unsurprisingly) a collector's site called (also unsurprisingly) http://www.asbadrums.com/ where you can probably get info.....

That's a pretty snare. Very clean condition. Just out of curiosity, I looked around on the ASBA site...very interesting stuff. Here's a pic of a snare with identical hardware to yours but with a fiberglass shell....

Here's some pics of a kit with the same snare as yours...the yellow kit on the left.

One thing I noted, it looks like maybe your tension rods were replaced at one time. The drums in the ASBA web site pics show slotted tension rods a la Sonor.

Cheers.
