Are there any advances in cymbal polishing?

Loading...

You guys are right-let the cymbal players keep them looking good! My daughter and I knew we had to do the elbow grease work first because these cymbals weren't cleaned or polished in probably 5-7 years. I'd say we got them off to a good start! Below is what we started with.

You guys are awesome-thanks for the advice.

Not that I can tell, either in person or via recording. But I haven't done a double blind listening test. And I'm not using them outdoors either, which might change things.

Disclaimer: I tend to believe that most of the things which people swear "change the sound" are way too small an effect to be detected by anybody else listening from even 2 feet away. But the proper research hasn't ever really been done...

in the 70's ludwig applied a clear coat to the cymbals special order it did not affect sound like with brass refinishing they spray a laqear on it its just for brass restoration hope this helps

April 2nd 1969 scarfed pink champagne holly wood and 65/66 downbeat snare, and , supra same year very minty kit old pies
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.
