Aquarian SKI repair

Loading...

Sorry for the boring question/thread here...........

My felt on the underside/inside of my Aquarian Super Kick I is coming undone / unattached / coming off. What glue should I use to repair it? Seems like a silly simple question - yet considering the beating it is going to take, I suppose any simple glue would NOT do.

Anyone ever had this issue before on what I think is the best BD batter head ever?

Thanks.

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!

Last night I decided to go to the Aquarian website and fill out their contact form - to ask about this.

Sure enough - got an email from them today (within 12 hours) - asking me to call (him). .....signed....

Sincerely,

Roy Burns

I will be trying to call tomorrow (fit it into my busy schedule) and will let you all know how all that goes. Not sure if I will recognize his voice if the voice on the other end claims to be Mr. Burns.

I do know this - I have read in his MD blog about his conversations with young drummers and how easy it is to talk to 'professional drummers'. So it would not surprise me if Mr. Burns himself picks up the phone. I will no doubt appreciate the conversation.

This may turn into a PR piece for Aquarian. Fine by me - just want to get my head repaired - does not sound nearly as good with the loose felt and thus a blanket inside the BD up against the batter head.

Again - anyone ever had this issue before?

So after a couple days I called - and got Roy on the phone. He was very kind and helpful - suggested 'contact cement' - and indeed verified that with a technician there.

I will update once I get around to it.

Again - am I talking to myself and 3 or 4 crickets here - NOBODY ever had this happen to them????

I've never had the same problem but I did call in there once with a different problem and talked to Roy. He was very helpful and told to call anytime I have a problem with any of their products.

Never had that problem. Did have a problem with head fit on my Rogers, when they changed plants. Roy called me, and sent replacement heads. Fun to talk Rogers drums with him......

5th cricket here :-)

Never had that issue.

Contact Cement is difficult to work with in that stuck is stuck. No chance to move it later.

The better half does "Art" stuff. Hence knows glues. I'll ask.

If you have a test station set up try "Rubber Cement". Apply to both sides. Let dry and press into place.

Nothing special here but I like them.

Man I think I am going to tear up an Aquarian head so I can call Mr. Burns. That is pretty cool.

Let us know how your repair works.

Roy told me not to use Rubber Cement. His guys say just "Contact Cement" When pushed for a brand, he just said that they sell it at Home Depot.

I have not had the chance to do the repair yet - instead just threw and old shirt in there against the head - don't want to take it apart - want to keep playing! Time is precious between sunrise and sunset / between pillow visits.

I will chime in here again when I do the repair. Just keep subscribed and you will eventually hear from me on this.

I have a SK1 on my Camco bass drum and also a ported ebony Aquarian on the reso and it is the best sounding bass drum I have. If I had the extra expendable cash I would put them on all my bass drums. Fantastic heads. I didn't realize that was Roy Burns company.
