If you want a rough, but good estimate, post pics and a description in this section: http://www.vintagedrumforum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=35

Personally, I have not had any good experiences with Ned.

This forum is a MUCH better place for getting a more "collective" sort of appraisal. Instead of getting one man's opinion -as with Ned, you get an average of opinions and price ranges that span over a broad range of the country (and world).

As with any appraisal, it is based upon what the market is willing to pay. With the advent of EBay several years ago, people who looked long enough, gained the ability to more or less gauge what was selling and what wasn't selling -as well as what prices they were selling for.

Ned's operation kind of preceded EBay with that little newspaper thing he used to send out. But EBay effectively obliterated his ability to carve out a specialized niche for himself to be THE "expert". Now, there are tons of people who know every bit as much as Ned -and tons of people who know more than Ned -on this forum.

I have worked with them years ago and they seamed to be pretty good. A guy I go with now is Tim Ellis of Ellis drum shop in St Paul MN. He has a shrine of vintage drums in both of his shops. He is also a Custom Drum builder and is very knowledgeable. Here is his web site if you want to know more, www.ellisdrumshop.com

Thanks,
Lam
