Anyone notice there's no "https:" + "Not Secure" (when typing message/response) ?

As a computer tech/IT person, I've always noted that logging in to VDF says it's not secure. As Tommyp points out, our forum was never meant for posting sensitive information, and as such, shouldn't pose any issues when used the way it's intended. Still, there are those who may feel better if the site was "secure" by using an HTTPS server. Just not sure how easy this would be to implement. Honestly, I've been using VDF for almost 12 years and have never had a problem!-Mark

Mark!

YES!, exactly! Zenstat said pretty much the same as you and I as well. Does NOT appear to be an issue as the VDF was never set up for it ... and for the very reasons mentioned. I’ve been here for just a bit longer than you in the SM/admin capacity, with NEVER an issue in all that time with any member. I’d say we’re good to go. THANKS for the input ... Zenstat too of course!

You don`t have the address toolbar showing on your screen. If you did, there`s a little circle with an .."i".. in it, if you click it the message appears. It shows ten cookies active on this site. Click that to view them.

I got an option to view and delete them.

I`m gonna wreck em,...see what happens, they`re supposed to be site functionality cookies.

When suppertime came the ole cook came on deck say`n fella`s it`s too rough to feed ya !!

I been here forever too and only ran into one issue,...had over a thousand views to my profile page in one day. So I changed it to members only views, and it stopped. Right now I got 2134 views, it was 2133 when I blocked them a few months ago.

Hi OddBall!

The fact that this site has never been "secure" has really been a non-issue for me. As to "cookies", they are just the way websites have worked for a long time. They allow the website to know who you are and let you log in, etc. If all you ever wanted to do was cruise the internet and never join any forums, order from Amazon, etc, you could just turn off cookies. But what fun would that be?!!

The bigger security issue is how freely the younger generation gives up personal information when using smartphone apps and social media sites. Honestly, most of them just don't have a clue as to how dangerous it can be! Ok, going to get off my high horse as I don't want to open a can of worms here! LoLoLoLo

Other than the one spy on my profile, I had no issues here because I do not put anything personal on the net. That spy could search forever and not find one personal detail about me. People looking for my location end up 300 miles East of Boston. Not many can go there. There`s something fishy about that spot too.
