Old marching drums, while cool and of historical value, really aren't worth a whole lot on the resale market. Plus they aren't very practical unless you're part of a reinactment regiment and are trying to capture the era for said reinactment. I rescued one last year, totally restored it, only to find out its worth about half of what I invested in it. So there it sits in my living room on a stand....just a nice conversation piece.

As far as what kind of drum that is....sorry, we need more pics than you've posted here to be able to ID it correctly. Going by that pic, the maker could be just about anybody's guess.....

BTW, if you do decide to bid on it and win the auction, I do have some leather rope tensioners I could donate to you for the restoration.....
