Anyone else get disheartened at all the greed in the vintage drum market?

Here's another eBay listing that just has me scratching my head...https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-60s-70s-Dixie-Snare-Drum-5x14-Gold-Copper-Tone-instrument-Needs-Restored/283597046451?hash=item4207b382b3:g:XDkAAOSweGRdZw37

This is nothing more than a $5-$10 yard sale find. I just don't get it! That's all I'm going to say, because my blood pressure is going up!

I miss the pre internet days. You could run wanted ads in the paper to find treasure. Also you could hit yard sales and hock shops. Now everything truly is supply and demand, cause and effect. It is what it is.

I used to run a ad in the local paper 365 days a year wanting Drums /cymbals...The deals used to be out there!.Example ...from my ad....bought a unmolested 1941 Ludwig Top Hat Snare for...$100!.....also...A Gold plated hardware... non engraved Ludwig 4 by 14 1920s Black Beauty and gold plated hardware 14 by 24..with factory painted oil scene on front head...$200!..They paid $75 at a yard sale they told me when I was leaving with it!...Eye Ball

The funny thing is there are no drums left worth a darn the market is slim pickings nowadays Gary

Well I found a 64 acrolite with redfelt bball bat muffler intact in good shape yesterday. was at auction, I contacted them and they would ship it for 20. I was going to wait to put my bid in to not push the numbers up to soon. Opps for got to check back. It went for $32. Rats

Hi catheters as much as you been learning here it has to be overwhelming ,Sometimes it has that effect on people .But the one thing consistently here is the knowledge that we have as a community and the collection are beyond what you would expect , you can spend days going through the gallery and see the collections here done very rare others just nice , some are still coveted but others have been sold off , some here myself included buy and sell, what we all are learning is the deals are slowly disappearing as also prime stock .. because of that , prices can be very high and some times they sell for that , but that’s not the norm here , usually you sit on them and to sell fast you need to find a player that also likes vintage and at a fair price ,unfortunate as it is most up and coming drummers want new so I wish you luck on the sale Gary

Thank you! I would imagine as we pass away from the 70's even the not so great ones will sell, but that is in the future.
